What is Swayam Shakti?

The Delhi Foundation of Deaf Women (DFDW) proudly host “Swayam Shakti” a Legal Awareness Program aimed at empowering the deaf community through knowledge of their legal rights and access to personalized legal counseling. This impactful event is designed to break the barriers that often prevent deaf individuals from understanding and exercising their legal rights due to a lack of accessible legal resources and communication support. Swayam Shakti witnessed the participation of thousands of deaf individuals from Delhi and surrounding areas. These workshops and seminars are designed to educate deaf women and girls about their rights and the legal protections available to them under Indian law. Using Indian Sign Language (ISL) and visual aids, we make complex legal topics simple and understandable.

⚖️ One-on-One Legal Counselling for Deaf Women

  • DFDW also offers one-on-one legal counselling for deaf women who may
    be facing legal issues such as domestic violence, workplace harassment,
    property disputes, or family-related concerns. Our legal experts and
    advocates work with the support of sign language interpreters to provide:

🔒 Legal advice in a confidential and supportive environment

📞 Guidance on filing complaints or approaching authorities

🧑‍⚖️ Referrals to legal aid services and partner organizations
